Example; Last year Rolex discontinued the older Submariner and replaced it with a new one. Submariners are still for sale but the legacy models will not be produced any longer.

Why We Believe These Rolex Watches Will Be Discontinued
Yes, there is some thought put into the Rolex models we expect to get discontinued in 2021. This list represents improvements in production, predictive models based on marketing from Rolex, and historical discontinuations.
The most obvious is all of the models in the Rolex Explorer collection. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Explorer series so it’s just natural to expect new references for that collection. We’ve guessed what these models will look like with our Top 10 Rolex 2021 Predictions article.
An interesting model to take a look at is the Milgauss. This one can go either way. I can see Rolex updating this reference to be more appealing to more buyers or completely scrapping it to make room on the production line for more popular stainless steel sports models. The latter is the reason why we believe the Rolex Air-King will be discontinued. Essentially it will go away to improve production of different models.
This one might be the one that hurts the most. The GMT Master II collection has been very active with new releases over the last 5 years. That much movement tells me that we’ll either see two things. The Rolex GMT Master II Pepsi will be discontinued in its short run and nothing else will be added to the collection. The other is Rolex might discontinue the Pepsi to make room for the Coke! The Coke is a vintage GMT that hasn’t made its way back into modern designs. To us that move isn’t an if it’s a when.
