How Much Is A Patek Philippe

The cost of a Patek Philippe ranges anywhere between $21,000 and $485,000. The vastly wide range in pricing between Patek Philippe watches vary based on materials, complications, popularity, and complexity.

Patek Philippe watches are made by hand which means two things. The first is that it is very time consuming to produce a single watch. The second is that the quality of a handmade watch, especially from Patek, will be exceptional. Both reasons are factors that play the biggest role in why a Patek is an expensive watch.

How Much Is A Patek Philippe Worth

Patek Philippe watches are in a special class when it comes to luxury watches. Although many Swiss watches are considered luxury goods, only a few brands appreciate in value after purchase, most notably Rolex and Patek. Between those two brands Patek owners benefit the most. All Patek Philippe watches are worth more pre-owned vs when bought new. Patek simply doesn’t produce enough watches to meet demand which is the main cause of the increase in worth of Patek watches.

The Patek Philippe Nautilus is a great example of a watch that increases in worth. The reference 5711 costs roughly $35,000 MSRP but sells as high as $175,000 on sites like Chrono24. The estimated $140,000 increase in value for the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 demonstrates the investment potential of buying a Patek.

Often considered the most popular sports watch, the value of a Nautilus is in a league of it’s own. On the used market these watches are priced 3x-4x of new ones at MSRP.

Recently a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 Tiffany Blue dial watch sold at auction for $6.5 million. There were only 170 Tiffany Blue dial Nautilus watches made and it commemorated the 170th anniversary between the Patek and Tiffany collaboration.

How Much Is A Patek Philippe Calatrava

The Patek Philippe Calatrava is considered by many to be the dress watch of choice. For many decades, the simple Calatrava has been a symbol of success, elegance, and grace. It’s the quality and extreme attention to detail which has made this dress watch stand out in a crowd.

A Patek Philippe Calatrava can be purchased new from $24,600 MSRP to as much as $40,810 MSRP. At these price points, the Calatrava is the most entry level Patek Philippe.

Don’t expect a Calatrava to shoot up in value once you’ve purchased one. Pre-owned pricing doesn’t fare as well for the Calatrava as it does for other collections. The Patek Philippe Calatrava holds it value well compared to other brands but it doesn’t experience the same growth as others in the Patek family.

How Much Is A Patek Philippe Complications

The Complications collection by Patek Philippe starts out at $35,480 MSRP on the low end and cost as much as $163,230 MSRP. The average price of a watch in the Patek Philippe Complications collection is roughly $55,000.

The vast difference in pricing is due to the complication/functions of each reference. Patek watch movement can be quite complex. More complex movements take longer to manufacture since most everything is done by hand, which is a large reason why these watches cost more.

How Much Is A Patek Philippe Grand Complications

The most expensive of all the Patek Philippe collections is the Grand Complications. The entry level price point for the Patek Philippe Grand Complication collection is $92,260 MSRP for the reference 5327J and the most expensive is the reference 5372P at $485,000 MSRP. The average price of a Grand Complication is roughly $300,000 MSRP.

Easily the most prestigious of all the collections, the Grand Complication watches produced by Patek are modern marvels when it comes to watchmaking. You’re more likely to see these watches getting passed down to the next generation instead of hitting the pre-owned market. If you do see one on the used marketplace, expect to see a hefty price tag.

How Much Is A Patek Philippe Aquanaut

The Aquanaut is the most affordable Patek Philippe collection. This collection has the reference 5167A starting at $21,650 MSRP. Of course there are precious metal references like the 5968G that top the collection out at $69,190 MSRP.

The average price of an Aquanaut at MSRP is roughly $43,000 making this collection one of the most attainable from Patek.
